Synopsis
A modern tale of fortune-telling in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s most popular movies and TV shows on IMDb, ranked by user rating. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners.
Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so that they can drill for oil and gas
Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, build workers’ quarters (man camp), supervise the assembly of excavation machinery, and drill the well site itself, especially in remote locations.

They are also, in part, fixers, troubleshooters, and facilitators. I have to start by saying that I am a huge fan of almost everything Taylor Sheridan does (Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, 1923, 1883, Tulsa King, Lioness, Sicario, He’ll or Highwater, Wind River, etc, etc).
It’s another hit for Sheridan
He hits home run after home run and Landman is no different. Landman is set in modern day Texas where everyone from billionaires to thugs are trying to get rich in the oil industry.
This series follows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) as he tries to take his company to the top during the oil boom
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good new series to watch, especially if you are a fan of Taylor Sheridan.
